| has gloss | eng: A cross-reference (noun) is an instance within a document which refers to related or synonymous information elsewhere, usually within the same work. To cross-reference or to cross-refer (verb) is to make such connections. The term "cross-reference" is often abbreviated as x-ref, xref, or, in computer science, XR. Cross-referencing is usually employed to either verify claims made by an author or to link to another piece of work that is of related interest. See, for example, the Linux cross-reference tool, . Μια παραπομπή μπορεί να εμφανίζεται με τρεις μορφές. Αρχικά με τη μορφή βλέπε (see), που οδηγεί τον χρήστη να ψάξει σε άλλο συνώνυμο δοκίμο όρο για το θέμα που τον ενδιαφέρει, ή με τη μορφή της αμοιβαίας έννοιας ενός όρου, δηλαδή, βλέπε επίσης (see also). Σε αυτή την περίπτωση ο χρήστης μπορεί παράλληλα να κοιτάξει και σε άλλους όρους που σχετίζονται με το θέμα του, οι οποίοι μπορεί να είναι είτε πιο εξειδικευμένοι είτε γενικότεροι σε σχέση με τον αρχικό όρο που επιλέχθηκε. Επίσης, ως παραπομπή θεωρείται και η βιβλιογραφική παραπομπή εντός κειμένου η οποία κατευθύνει τον μελετητή σε παραπλήσια του θέματος τεκμήρια και αποδεικνύει την εγκυρότητα των πληροφοριών που μεταδίδονται. |
