Moderne Reihensiedlungen sind vor allem in Nordamerika häufig in der Form des Tract Housing anzutreffen, bei der eine Baufirma in Serienfertigung die Häuser in einem Plangebiet errichtet und verkauft, und durch eine Ähnlichkeit der Bausubstanz günstige Preise erzielt. In Europa sind Reihensiedlungen vor allem in den Niederlanden anzutreffen, wo insbesondere in trockengelegten Gebieten (Landgewinnung) einander ähnelnde Häuser reihenweise errichtet wurden. Da Reihensiedlungen häufig in Randlage errichtet werden, werden sie oft auch Siedlungskolonien genannt, etwa bei Zechenkolonien. |
