has glosseng: Treo is an 8-year-old black Labrador Retriever and a retired explosives detection dog with the Royal Army Veterinary Corps. He was awarded the Dickin Medal (thought of as equivalent to a Victoria Cross for animals) in February 2010 . The military nominated Treo for the prize in recognition of his help uncovering a series of Taliban bombs during his time serving in Helmand Province, an insurgency hot spot, in 2008. The Labrador is the medal's 63rd recipient . As a puppy he was a badly behaved rebel in danger of being put down until intensive Army training turned him into the gutsy canine described by his handler, Sergeant Dave Heyhoe, as the best military dog he has served alongside .
