has glosseng: Surti Muslims, who are commonly referred to as "Surtis", are Gujarati Muslims. Most of them adhere to Hanafi Sunni Islam. They originated from pure tribal Arabs from Arabia, mostly from Iraq and Saudi Arabia. They have migrated to districts of Surat in the state of Gujarat, India. Surti Muslims are of Arab origin, while others are of Hindu origin who later converted to Islam but are not called Surits. Many members of Surti Muslims community have migrated to Pakistan after independence have settled in Karachi, Sindh.
