The route has never extended past the Berrien County line onto Napier Avenue nor has it extended to M-140. According to Michigan Highways, M-152 is a prime candidate to be turned back to local control and was even offered to Cass County in the jurisdictional transfer that swapped M-205 for M-217 in 2002.
