has gloss | eng: Experimental rap, similar to Indie rap, is a genre of music characterized by the lack of an actual rhythm. Instead, a performer may simply talk over the strumming of a guitar or an electronic instrument, such as a synthesizer. This form is similar to freestyle rapping. Another form involves complex melodies and full orchestral arrangements, as seen in more popular acts. Experimental Rap/Hip-Hop can be performed by a number of performers, sometimes in a sort of freestyle troupe. Lyrics for this genre are not often prewritten, so most performers need a background in some sort of improvisation. Some of the most well known artists of this genre are: Gnarls Barkley, Gorillaz, Aesop Rock, MF Doom, Kid Koala, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, and Danger Mouse. |
